It all started when Reema Khan noticed a clear demand for her eyebrow shaping services. With women driving from separate suburbs to her beauty salon, which opened in 2003 on the North Side of Chicago, for a short threading session, Reema was able to see the potential. Realizing the potential and the increasing acceptance of threading, Reema explored her opportunities. Armed with her threading expertise and a mission to educate people about threading, she launched her first brow bar at a local mall in Chicago.
With the success of the first brow bar, Reema knew there was more potential. With a business education, beauty business background and years of experience, Reema took her business to the next level and made her salon services even more accessible by offering her brow services at many more kiosk locations in malls. In 2004, Reema opened two s.h.a.p.e.s Brow Bar locations with one in Chicago’s Ford City Mall and the other in North Riverside Mall. Equipped with great brow shaping techniques, an affordable price point, solid marketing strategy and a growing demand, s.h.a.p.e.s Brow Bar began seeing success.
Now, with over 65 locations throughout six states and continual rapid growth, s.h.a.p.e.s Brow Bar went from one girl’s vision, to a flourishing business.
